Driver of vehicle that struck pedestrian cited for operating with a suspended license | News


HAVERHILL — Police said a man who was crossing Broadway early Wednesday evening was struck by a vehicle operated by a driver with a suspended license.

The incident happened around 4:40 p.m. when the man was crossing Broadway (Route 97) from Forest Street when he was struck by a vehicle heading toward Methuen.

Police said the injured man was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man was cited at the scene for a crosswalk violation and for driving with a suspended license, police said. No arrests were made.

The intersection where the man was struck is close to the Interstate 495 on and off ramps and is also near the Broadway Business Park. Route 97 is a popular route connecting Haverhill with Methuen and Salem, New Hampshire.
