Greenfield fire installing free smoke alarms for those in need

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Red Cross is partnering with the Greenfield Fire Department to give residents free fire alarms next month.

Firefighter injured; 8 forced out in Turners Falls fire

On February 8th members of the Red Cross and Greenfield Fire will be coming to pre-registered homes to install the alarms and educate homeowners on fire safety. They say if your home needs a farm alarm or if your current alarm is more than 10 years old, you are invited to register.
You can sign up by calling the Greenfield Fire Department at 413-774-4737 extension 1107.

“Seven times a day someone in this country dies in a home fire and we have witnessed that tragedy right here in our community,” said Mary Nathan, disaster program manager for the Red Cross of Western Massachusetts. “Smoke alarms save lives.”
