Denver International Airport considers new pedestrian bridge

DENVER (KDVR) — Could a new pedestrian bridge be on the horizon at Denver International Airport?

A recently released artist’s rendering shows how the airport infrastructure could be further connected. A pedestrian bridge currently connects the main terminal to Concourse A.

“A bridge of this caliber, of this length, could be very, very difficult to conceive, design and construct,” said Stephen Long, professional engineer and affiliate professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

“I mean, this is an extremely long bridge,” Long said.

No word yet if the bridge would connect Concourse A to Concourses B and C.

Long said airline pressure to keep up with growing capacity will continue to rise.

“The demand keeps increasing right now. At the same time, we have got to build a service that doesn’t just meet the existing needs of the terminals today, but the future, and then catch up,” Long said.

In an email, an airport spokesperson said: “We are still evaluating the feasibility and cost of a bridge. Nothing is confirmed.”

Denver International Airport first opened in February of 1995.
